Robert Purdon and Jean Ferguson and their four oldest children immigrated to Canada in 1820 aboard the sailing ship "George Canning." They settled in Lanark County in eastern Ontario and many of their descendants remain in that immediate area to this day. The line of this webmaster left Lanark about 1876 and came to Huron County near Lake Huron, while many others went west as land opened for settlement. The descendants of Robert and Jean Purdon can be found in virtually every province and many of the US states.
